We are nearing the final stages of the rebuild of BYC’s permanent home on Edward Street, currently due to be completed in September 2025.
This multi-million pound regeneration will provide a huge update on what we had before.
In the image above, you can see a photo showing current progress of the building project next to a generated architect image of how we expect it to look at the end of the construction.
The west side of the building has been demolished and replaced, with the entrance being moved onto the corner of Edward Street and an outdoor space created at the back, while the rest is being upgraded and refitted on the inside.
This will create a fully accessible youth centre with upgrades to all our existing facilities as well as new additions such as a cafe space, and counselling and GP rooms. On the top floor you can see the extension to the skatepark which will provide a larger seating area overlooking the city, toilets and extra amenities.
Our office and some of our youth activities are currently based at 94 Gloucester Road.
This is a smaller space and so we’re not able to offer as much as we’re used to but we’re slowly building our youth programme back up and welcome regular young members of BYC to join in. Call, email or contact Brighton Youth Centre on Instagram if you want info on what’s going on currently.
We’re extremely grateful to everyone who visits the centre over the years, and are sorry for the disruption. This work is essential to securing BYC’s long term future and allowing us to continue providing these services to young people in Brighton. We will of course keep you updated with any and all progress as we go through this change. Until then, if you didn’t hear it from us then feel free to ignore whatever it is.
